Join our quarterly virtual forums for hands-on learning and discussions about privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs). This is a space for technical and policy staff at state and local education agencies and SLDS to connect and learn from one another.
Date: June 9–11, 2025 Convened by Georgetown University’s Massive Data Institute (MDI), the 2025 Summer Institute brought together researchers, policymakers, technologists, legal professionals, and data stewards for three days of discussion on privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), responsible data integration, and equitable infrastructure for public data use. Hosted at the McCourt School of Public Policy in Washington, DC, on June 9–11, 2025, the Summer Institute featured presentations, panel discussions, and product demonstrations from federal agencies, academic laboratories, software developers, and cross-sector partnerships.
Date: March 12, 2025 Georgetown University’s Massive Data Institute, The Data Foundation, and the Future of Privacy Forum hosted a Legal Convening focused on the topic of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) and their intersection with legal frameworks in the sharing of educational data. The purpose of the hybrid in-person and virtual workshop was to delineate challenges in the PET/legal space, identifying key questions and areas where practitioners are encountering obstacles and work to find solutions to common roadblocks.
