Dr. Mabvakure is an Assistant Professor (Research-track) of Oncology at Georgetown University Medical Center and a Research Affiliate Member of the Cancer Prevention and Control program for Georgetown-Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has a BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology from Chinhoyi University of Technology (Zimbabwe), an MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of the Western Cape (South Africa), and a Ph.D. in Virology from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa). He did his Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Pathology. Dr. Batsirai Mabvakure is a recent recipient of the American Cancer Society pilot study grant to investigate the role of somatic evolution in colorectal cancer disparities.
